"胡" vs "狄"：两个字的本质区别
一、四方民族体系（已存在）
- 北狄（Běi Dí）
- 南蛮（Nán Mán）
- 东夷（Dōng Yí）
- 西戎（Xī Róng）
这个体系已经完整！
二、关键问题
如果已经有"北狄"来指称北方民族，为什么还要造"胡"？
"胡" ≠ "狄"！
三、"胡"的特殊性
"胡"不是方位词
- 狄、蛮、夷、戎 = 方位 + 民族
- 胡 = ？？？（没有方位）
"胡"不是泛称
- 如果"胡"只是"北方民族的泛称"，那就是"狄"的同义词
- 但"胡"和"狄"在史书中并存使用
- 说明它们指代的不是同一个概念
